5G Local Culture Showcase | Immersive Four-Gate Experience with Chunghwa Telecom
Axis3D and Chunghwa Telecom created an eight-month immersive exhibition at Hengchun’s four gates, using 5G, Web AR, 4DViews, and projection mapping to turn local culture into a stage for interactive and AR experiences.
Client Background
Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s largest telecommunications company, is committed to advancing 5G innovation. By collaborating with local culture, it brings technology into public spaces through diverse exhibitions, creating new modes of performance and preservation.
Client Needs
To leverage 5G as the core technology, integrating interactive installations and immersive media to create a long-term outdoor cultural exhibition. The goal was to let visitors experience diverse cultural stories and technological interactions at the four historic gates of Hengchun Old Town.
Our Solutions
Axis3D designed unique interactive content and performances for each of Hengchun’s four gates:
East Gate – Gamified 5G IoT experience “Pole-Climbing Contest” combining speed and collaboration
West Gate – Dynamic projection mapping “Eight Scenes of Hengchun” with interactive firework animation “Frozen Splendor”
South Gate – Glasses-free LED holographic fan display “Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain” inspired by Hengchun imagery
North Gate – 4DViews volumetric capture of folk singers presented via Web AR, offering a lifelike 360° performance
Outcomes
The project attracted strong engagement from both locals and tourists, setting a new benchmark for digital interpretation of regional culture. By integrating innovative exhibitions into public spaces, it showcased localized, everyday applications of 5G.
